(In this blog post I discuss how as westernized women we’re greatly disconnected from our bodies and period, but how we can use our cyclic nature to our advantage! and as our bloody superpower!!!)

Several months ago I was sitting in a World Wide’s Women Circle and I had a feeling, or rather a deep knowing within that my coaching was going to shift directions.

At the time I didn’t know what this meant.

I was in the midst of a breakup and couldn’t wrap my mind around another change.

So I listened to the wisdom, said thank you, and knew when the timing was right I would gain more clarity.

Ideas have been surfacing over the last few months, but a few weeks ago while looking out at the glistening coast off of Big Sur, a huge smile crossed my face, and all I could think was, “Yes, of course that’s it!”

I’ve always been crazy passionate about awakening women to the truth of who they are. I lived most of my 20’s as a dimmed down version of who I was, letting the shoulds and supposed dictate who I thought I should be.

When I reconnected to my true self I felt a freedom within that I didn’t know existed. From that moment, I’ve been on a mission to empower women to live from a place of fierce authenticity.

But I recently had a mind blowing epiphany… the foundation of who we are as women lies in our cyclic nature.

What do I mean by this? Our moon cycles ladies, or aka our bloody fucking periods (pun intended!).

Sadly, as women in the westernized world we are completely disconnected from our bodies, vaginas and monthly cycle – pretty much the very things that make us women!

(I even hesitated to write vagina which shows how deep our collective shame runs!)

Most of us learned from an early age that it was a burden to bleed. We live in a world where it’s taboo to talk about periods and where “that time of the month” is used as an insult.

As women, our bodies and emotions ebb and flow each month. This is our natural state. It’s built into our biological makeup.

A woman’s menstrual cycle is roughly 29 days, the same amount of time as the cycle of the moon. As the moon waxes and wanes, so does our hormonal levels.

Just think about that for a moment. Our wombs, in our bodies, on planet earth are directly connected to the moon. #mindblow

This is magical. WE ARE MAGICAL!!!

If you’re reading this thinking, “holy shit, I had no idea”, I’m right there with you sister!

Clearly, our bodies and emotions are not linear, but we live as if they are, only further disconnecting us from the truth of who we are.

By tracking your cycle and honoring how your body naturally ebbs and flows you’ll gain a better understanding (and acceptance) of who you are as a woman, and you’ll also discover your own personal roadmap on how to do life.

And Sister, that’s your superpower!

You don’t need to look outward. You have an internal map giving you your optimal times to do everything from create, rest, take action, and even have sex.

A bloody comprehensive road map of who you are at your very core. Not who you want to be, or think you should be, but who you are at the most biological sense.

Again, mind fucking blown.

Moving forward you can use this chart to plan everything in your life from job interviews, first dates, tough conversations, when to ask for a raise, when to book a weekend away, or when to rest.

I find this knowledge fascinating, and it’s a journey that I hope you’ll join me on.

The first step is begin tracking. Start on day one of your next bleed. Track your emotions, energy levels, mental state, how your body feels and where the moon is throughout your cycle.

I would suggest journaling everyday to really tune in with where you’re at. Be open to what arises. Get curious and be gentle with yourself. The key here is to listen to what your body is trying to tell you.

This is ancient wisdom built into our DNA. It’s not so much about learning something new, but a remembering who we are in our essence as women.

I haven’t felt this passionate about something in ages, and I feel drawn to create a safe space where we can talk about this. Facebook group anyone? Seriously, should I start one?

Respond below and let me know. I’d also like to know if this something you’d like to learn more about? Do you feel weird and triggered by talking about periods? Really, I’d love to hear from you today!

Cheers to being women and all the magic that that entails.

xo,

Em
